Home Tours- Renovating a Waterfront Victorian in Massachuchsetts

This Victorian was built in 1885 as a summer cottage on the water in Hingham, Massachusetts.

It is amazing what some people call a summer cottage. When the current owners bought it  in 2002 they wanted to bring it back to its original beauty and then sum. It looks like a challenge and a great undertaking and here is how it looks like today...

This truly is amazing. What a transformation. This was an article in Better Homes and Garden which stated that the owner replanted the gardens in Victorian style with English Ivy, Hydrangeas, and Roses.

They wanted wanted a more cleaner look and not so fussy formal Victorian look which they brought to the inside.

As you can see that they have a cleaner and more comfortable feel than a Victorian.

They could salvage the hardwood floors under the carpets.

Dining Room Before

Dining Room After..what a change. The built in look as though they were original to the house. Looking through the windows is a fabulous view of the harbor front.

Believe it or not I am speechless. I know how difficult it is to restore a staircase and this is beautiful.

 Owners Suite Before

Here is what you been waiting for..the owner's suite after nothing more to say.

 Kitchen Before

Kitchen After. They choose to keep the same foot prints of the kitchen so it is the same size but it looks a lot better. Don't you think? I think that I could whip a thing or two in that kitchen.

Love the 4 season room.. it is so cute and a little shabby chic!

This is my dream-I love plants so to have a planting room would be a dream come true. All I need is a green house but we can do that later. For more info Source
